MeetWendy

Guess I should introduce myself I'm Wan-Lea Wendy Avalon, a female Platinum Mink Tonkinese, who was born October 30, 1996. Mom and Dad found me almost by accident. Their eight-year-old seal point Siamese suddenly got very sick. She had kidney failure and had to be put to sleep about a week later. Although they were really devastated, they decided to go to the local cat show being held at that time, hoping to find another wonderful  little girl. Foolish them - thinking they'd find  an applehead Siamese at a cat show! Anyhow, they walked the aisles looking at all the other cats- and there was Wanda with a cat exactly the same color as the Siamese, although not quite built the same way. Wanda took Dawn out of the cage and put her in Mom's arms. Mom began to cry and asked if shecould take this cat home. Unfortunately for Mom, Dawn was her Daddy's girl and couldn't leave home. Then Wanda put the kitten she was showing in Daddy's arms. Suddenly they were hooked on Tonks!

Mom and Dad made an appointment to visit Wanda and her kittens. The little furballs were just walking around and climbing on them and cuddling. They were having trouble deciding which one they would like better. When it was almost time to leave - fortunately for me - they met  a three-month-old and a six-month-old who were bouncing off the walls. Mom and Dad just looked at each other as if to say, "Did our Siamese really act this way when she was a kitten?" Wanda, of course, noticed and suggested that maybe an adult cat might be a better choice. "Wendy is the most laid back cat I have right now." And that was the first time they saw me. Mom and Dad made another appointment to come to see  me. (I couldn't leave yet because I still had my own three-month-old kittens, one of which  helped them decideon me!)

The day finally came when I could leave. Wanda sent along a small litter pan (of course, I had to have a meal right before we left -who knows how long until the next one!), my  favorite toy, and a brush. I wasn't so happy about this then as I sound now. I cried the whole way home, that night, and all the next day. After all, I had just lost all my kittens, my "Mom", and my happy home. But then I decided to explore my new home and decided it wasn't so bad after all.

I'm still pretty laid back, but being an indoor kitty, I am prone to the "evening crazies"- stay out of my way then! I love my treats, my toys, sleeping tight up against Mom, using the computer, stealing pens, and rides in the car. (The best place to go is along the Susquehanna River when the Canadian geese are there with their young, but Mom and Dad never let me out of the car. Darn! So I have to sit inside and talk to them.) Yes, I've  decided I really like it here and plan to stay around a lot longer than the eight years Mom  and Dad had their first "baby".
